Menlyn Maine
A clearer view of complexity.
Manala & Co Incorporated is a majority black-owned, multidisciplinary law firm based in Menlyn Maine, Pretoria. The firm was founded on the understanding that the matters clients face rarely fit neatly within a single professional discipline — a workplace dispute may carry accounting implications, a procurement challenge may turn on financial thresholds, and a forensic investigation frequently requires both legal analysis and structured financial review.
We are structured to respond to that reality. By integrating legal counsel with financial and accounting perspective, we are able to assess a matter’s legal merits, financial dimensions and commercial implications together, rather than fragmenting advice across separate professional advisers. The result is more coherent strategy, more honest assessment, and better-aligned execution.
We are equally deliberate about the firm’s role in the transformation of the South African legal profession. As a majority black-owned practice, our positioning is not a marketing convenience — it is a structural commitment to building a firm in which talented black lawyers can build careers of consequence, and to occupying a meaningful place in the next generation of South African law firms.
“We seek to achieve and put together talented black lawyers and occupy a position in the top 10 largest law firms in South Africa.”

Two statements that anchor how the firm operates and where it intends to stand.
To provide cost-effective, integrated legal and financial services that respond to the real complexity of the matters clients face — and to do so within a firm that takes seriously its role in the transformation of the South African legal profession.
That commitment shapes how we scope mandates, how we structure fees, how we communicate, and how we develop the people who do the work.
Our aspiration is to grow into a firm counted among the larger law firms in South Africa — measured not only by size, but by the quality of the work, the depth of the team, and the firm’s contribution to a more inclusive profession.
The reference to a top-10 position in our founding mission is a stated aspiration. It is not a claim of current standing, and the firm has not yet achieved it.
Most law firms operate as law firms. Manala & Co Incorporated operates as a multidisciplinary practice — combining legal counsel with financial and accounting perspective under a single mandate.
Allegations of fraud, corruption, or financial misconduct rarely respect the boundary between law and accounting. They are simultaneously legal questions (liability, exposure, remedy) and financial questions (flow of funds, accounting treatment, quantification). A team that can read both is a team that can advise properly.
A restructuring, a transaction, or a contested dispute is rarely a pure legal question. The legal answer and the financial answer need to be considered together, or the advice is incomplete. Integration allows that to happen inside a single team rather than across separate advisers.
Where legal and financial advice are coordinated, clients avoid the duplication, delay and contradiction that arise when separate professional advisers operate in parallel. The mandate is cleaner, the communication is cleaner, and the work is more directly useful.
Our office is situated in the Menlyn Maine precinct — a designed urban node in Waterkloof, Pretoria, that brings together corporate, professional and retail uses in a walkable environment. The precinct is easily accessible from the N1 and the wider Pretoria road network, with on-site and precinct parking for visiting clients.
